The atmosphere in Blackpool is about to get even more FAB-U-LOUS as we prepare to welcome Strictly Come Dancing back to town!
2022 is season number 20 of the hit BBC TV show. Strictly has been coming to Blackpool since the very first series in 2004, although there wasn’t a regular yearly Blackpool Strictly week until 2009.
The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is famous around the world within the dancing community. It has been the place to dance for over 100 years and professional dancers often consider it a big achievement to compete on the Blackpool dance floor. The arrival of Strictly to our TV screens and its love and respect for the Blackpool ballroom has opened up the joyful world of dancing to a whole new audience. Among the thousands of visitors to The Blackpool Tower (the home of the Ballroom) it is not uncommon to hear the excited awestruck sounds of a child exclaiming “it’s the strictly come dancing ballroom!”
The show’s arrival in Blackpool attracts tourists from all over the country, many without a ticket to the event, but the atmosphere in the town along with so many family attractions and things to do to keep the whole family entertained the town buzzes with life!
When is Blackpool week for Strictly?
The Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool 2022 filming will take place on Saturday 19th November at The Blackpool Tower Ballroom
The recording of the Strictly episode will see the arrival of presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman in Blackpool alongside the 2022 judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas.
Current contestants include Fleur East, Kym Marsh, Hamza Yassin and Will Mellor among others, but with 2 weeks left to go (at the time of writing this) it is yet to be determined who will be lucky enough to make it to the sought-after milestone of reaching Blackpool week this year.
How can you get Strictly Come Dancing tickets?
Strictly Come Dancing Tickets are not sold by The Blackpool Tower. Like all audience opportunities for BBC shows, the ticket ballot is managed though the BBC’s Shows and Tours website. Following registering interest in attending, the tickets are allocated by a random draw.
Can you get tickets for Strictly Blackpool 2022?
The random draw for audience members has now closed for 2022. If you haven’t been lucky enough to secure tickets to be in the ballroom for filming, there’s still plenty happening in Blackpool for those who wish to soak up some of the electric atmosphere.
Registering this way occurs every year (once the show is confirmed), so keep your eye on the BBC’s tickets page from early August 2023 to be in with a chance next year.

Although the ballot is now closed for Strictly Blackpool this year, there’s still opportunities to register to be in the audience for the later shows at the Elstree Film and Television Studios where the other episodes are broadcast from.

The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is open on many dates throughout the year for Strictly fans and dancing enthusiasts to enjoy. You don’t have to dance to find it truly magical. Many visitors simply enjoy watching the dancers waltz around the floor, listen to the famous sound of the Wurlitzer organ play or simply marvel at the architecture . The best way to enjoy the ballroom is to treat yourself to afternoon tea.
The Ballroom will be closed to the public on days reserved for filming Strictly but is open on many other dates. We recommend checking the opening times and booking your time in advance of your visit to avoid disappointment.

There’s plenty to see and do in Blackpool around Strictly week. The Blackpool Illuminations will be shining bright throughout November. This Blackpool tradition started in 1879 and new features get added every year. It is a spectacle everyone should experience at least once in their life.
From Friday 18th November there will be an ice rink, market stalls, rides and more at the Christmas By The Sea village located directly opposite The Blackpool Tower.
In the week following Strictly’s visit to Blackpool, the Winter Gardens is staging a production of Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom as part of its UK tour. Starring Kevin Clifton and directed and co-choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood, this is the perfect treat for Strictly fans.
