Celebrate the work of artist Negweny, who creates pieces of art from cigarette butts collected in the resort.
On 27th September 2019, starting at 6.30 pm, the Blackpool Circus will be hosting the opening event of the Seagull Freedom Gallery / Cigarette Waste Art Gallery and Educational Center. Shortly after, the whole audience will move to the gallery on 100 Central Drive (7 minute walk) for the official opening of the art space including the work ‘Blackpool Tower Speaking’ already documented by the BBC as the largest of its kind with a size of 2x1.4m and containing 30.000 cigarette butts.
From 8.30 pm, everybody will be invited to go back to The Blackpool Tower Circus for a screening of Sawah, my latest film, an international and already awarded feature film emerging from a partnership between Egypt and Luxembourg among other countries and that was written and directed by my son, Adolf El Assal and featuring well-known Egyptian actor Karim Kassim.
